Peter and Ian's K'nex Gallery
It
all started with a small set of K'nex as a Christmas Present and has grown from there.
Peter, having built a few models in the instruction books, decided to become a bit more
adventurous and designed his own tank in November 1997.
Ian
joined the K'nex fan club at Christmas 1997 when he got his own set and like his brother
set out to be more creative building the plane seen on the left in January 1998.

Ian
then went on to design the crane seen above in March 1998.
More K'nex was received for various birthday presents during 1998 and the boys built numerous models and had lots of fun. By October 1998, they had combined their sets and their expertise to produce a model of a train. This train was a winner in the Christmas 1998 edition of the K'nex Club Members Magazine and the two boys won a huge K'nex set to add to the collection.
Meanwhile they were busy again building the space shuttle seen on the right. Mervyn was
being drafted in now and again to help with the more difficult bits of the design and to
get the scaling correct. It was clear to all that he enjoyed this, so much so that
Santa
brought him the K'Nex Roller Coaster at Christmas 1998.
During the long cold month of January the boys set to again to build a Cliff Railway.
This made use of the track from the Roller Coaster and took over most of the Dining room
but by the end of January 1999 the end result was very good.
It
also had a motor to drive the cars up and down and the small cuddly toys had a hairy
couple of days visiting the dizzy heights of the dining table.
The Summer of 1999 was a busy time what with school events, holidays and Cub Camps etc so little construction of anything large happened. The K'nex was made into guns and other simple things but the autumn half term saw the family have a visit to Paris.
The Eiffel Tower was visted, photographed and investigated in detail. Then it was visited at night as well.
This visit inspired the boys to start building again, once again Mervyn was drafted in
as the design
manager and did the scaling. The model seen to the left took several weeks
to complete and used most of the K'nex.
The boys wanted the tower lit, just like they saw it in Paris. A visit to a local store later and 100 little clear Christmas Tree lights gave them their wish as can be seen on the right.
The model making has slowed down as the boys have got involved in other activitied but Ian did make this sailing ship in November 2002
